As I was watering the plum tree in the backyard today, it occurred to me that it didn't grow any plums this year. For the first time since 1998 it did not give us any juicy plums or make a mess with them falling on the ground.Strange, isn't it? I had to trim it by myself this year, I did that in the late spring. It was a difficult day--the first time Kenny didn't help me in all the years we've lived here. And the same with trimming the mulberry tree in the front. I'm getting used to those things now, trimming trees without him. Tomorrow is the semi-annual operation clean-up and the second time we had to throw the dozens of palm fronds over the fence without Kenny. I wonder if he was looking down on us and smiling because he got out of it...either way I have been picturing him as I go about doing my daily business. I've started to get up and do things such as grocery shopping and walking my dog but more on that tomorrow....
OH>OH> AND today at Whole Foods Market I bought Kenny's favorite cereal of all time>>Marshmallow Oaties!!!
It is the natural, healthy version of Lucky Charms and SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!!! I tried Lucky Charms and I didn't like it because it was too sweet and it makes milk turn pink but Marshmallow Oaties is Delicious***and we bought them because Kenny wanted to try them and then the whole family got hooked.
Element of the day (day 34)
#26) Fe- Iron-] metal
Necessary for full health in plants.
Essential for life to exist in animals.
Discovered in Antiquity.
A strongly reactive metal. Common in the universe-found in stars, meteorites and rocky planets in considerable quantities. 4th most abundant element in the Earth's crust. The core of the Earth is thought to be mostly iron. Used in tool making and building material for thousands of years. The chief constituent of steel.
Common iron minerals are goethite, hematite, lepidocrocite, magnetite, and siderite. Mined in Russia, Brazil, China, Australia, India and the USA.
Well
it seems interesting to me that many of the metals are elements that
are considered to be important nutrients in the human diet: sodium,
magnesium, potassium, calcium, and now iron. I would never have known these are all found in the Earth's crust before reading this chart,, and to think that most of these are crushed into vitamins and sold for expensive prices in the retail market. HMPH! such a shame--maybe we should all just eat dirt. Laughs...
